Stoke-on-Trent Labour Standing with our communities against Tory austerity

🔐 Ahead of today’s vote on the Pensions Triple Lock, Stoke-on-Trent’s Labour Councillors have written to the city’s three Conservative MPs urging them not to break their manifesto promise.
💷 Dropping the triple lock could leave every pensioner with £8.45 less each week than the Conservatives promised at the election.
🗳 At the 2019 General Election, the Conservatives promised that pensions would increase by 2.5%, the rate of inflation, or the rate of wage growth each year – whichever was highest.
❌ Abandoning this promise will leave pensioners here in Stoke-on-Trent poorer. When energy prices are soaring, fuel prices are rising, and the cost of living as a whole is growing, it is totally wrong for Conservative MPs, many of whom have second jobs paying thousands each year, to vote against protecting pensioners’ income.
🌹 Labour will protect pensions, protect pensioners, and develop a comprehensive strategy for all older people to ensure that they are treated with fairness and decency after a lifetime of hard work.
